Books are a great way to do add to my parent education tool-belt-as quickly, easily, and cheaply as possible. Here are some of my favorite books:
How to really love your child by D. Ross Campbell
This is a great book that really helped me think about my parenting in a less stressful way. It has been a favorite of child therapy professionals since the 70’s, which simply put, means it has timeless wisdom in it.
I Love You Rituals by Becky A Bailey
This wonderful collection of songs, rhymes and games to play with your children is designed to use what we know about brains to develop attachment. Wow, its brainy, fun, and silly! Just like me.
There are lots more books, but I’ll save them for another day. Sometimes, I find that reading or focusing on my favorite subjects helps me focus on them when I am not reading. It just helps me to think about them in a different way than I have been and gets me out of my ruts, gets me unstuck. Parenting can be so stressful, it is easy to feel stuck. If you find a good parenting book, send me the title and what you liked about it [christy@acorncounseling.services].
