Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping families work through the challenges of raising children with educational and psychiatric disabilities. I began my career in my native Massachusetts, working in a variety of capacities to advocate for children with Autism and other developmental disabilities, creating individual education plans, effective behavior plans, developing floor time strategies as well as day to day parenting and family plans. In addition, I consulted with schools and daycares regarding the challenges of integrating children with Autism into the classroom.
I attended Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts and received a BS in Psychobiology and went on Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts for my Master’s Degree in Education. I was fortunate to study at Boston Children’s Hospital at the Clinic for Autism and Related Disorders supervised by Dr. Karen Levin and Dr. Rafael Castro, both leaders in the field of Autism.
I moved to Texas in 2009 to be closer to my family. My husband, stepdaughter and I moved to Providence Village in 2010. Soon after, I discover Love and Logic and flew to Denver to be trained in their methodology. I was impressed by its simplicity and practicality as a parenting strategy that can be applied to typical and atypical children.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading and doing cross stitch, as well as outdoor activities such as kayaking, swimming and biking with my husband.
I am excited to begin working as the Director of Education at Acorn Counseling Education Services. I look forward to working with you and your family andteaching Love and Logic along with many other classes.
